Why grow people

Investing in the people with whom we live and work is critical to human existence. We often use the terms personal and professional growth to highlight the continuum of development that may occur in our day-to-day experiences. Our development is not just attributed to our horizontal growth, that is, the knowledge, skills, and understandings acquired to be able to complete tasks. Our development needs to consist of vertical growth, that is, being able to look down and reflect on our unconscious patterns to understand ourselves better and to be clear about why we behave in the way that we do. When we are able to do this, we grow upwards engaging in better ways of being, doing, and relating.
